$580k is kind of high. What’s the deal?
We could just say “see our budget section” but… 1) we are aiming for 100% backer funded AAA production quality. Maybe KS isn’t ready for something like this but we’d like to find out. 2) We could go with traditional funding and create as many as 2 seasons right off the bat but quality would suffer as well as creative control. With this team we want to involve the backers so that we can attain something much more special together. 3) A one-off episode is more expensive with regard to dollars per minute of animation. If we wanted a full season (13 episodes) the initial goal would be much higher (almost $3 million) but we could get the cost down per episode. At $3 million, in our minds, why not shoot for the film? How will we be distributing the digital content?
The plan for digital distribution is to utilize secure download links through Digioh and their partner MailChimp. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
Will you add additional tiers/rewards, add-ons, stretch goals?
We will see what interest levels are and then go from there. We are open to suggestions and will consider any ideas. So far, based on backer feedback we have added the $60 tier for Blu-ray/DVD. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
Only English and German subtitles?
For our initial goal, we will have English and German. We are considering adding more languages with stretch goals but we definitely need to meet our initial goal first otherwise nothing will happen. Last updated: Thu, Sep 4 2014 4:25 pm EDT
What DRM will there be on the download and Blu-ray/DVD?
Secure download link for the digital content but NO DRM. The Blu-ray will have the inherent encryption that is known to the medium (i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Access_Content_System) and there is nothing we can do about that. It will however, be Region-Code-Free. Last updated: Thu, Sep 4 2014 4:25 pm EDT
What about additional sub/dubs for stretch goals?
These are currently under consideration. We of course, have to hit the initial goal first, otherwise, nothing will happen at all. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
Can pledges be made via PayPal?
Yes, very soon! It will be enabled via www.under-the-dog.com as soon as we can. We will send an update once it is available. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
How is this project being funded?
Kickstarter primarily. PayPal on our website for those that prefer it. Anyone in the world is welcomed to pledge. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
What will the ⅛ figure look like?
Here is a very early look (and subject to change): https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1300298569/under-the-dog/posts/976808 Last updated: Fri, Sep 5 2014 8:48 pm EDT
Is the ⅛ figure exclusive to backers?
The coloring will be exclusive. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to make two (or more) models at this time. We could potentially make is a stretch goal. Wait and see! Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
Who is signing the poster?
The creative staff will sign the poster. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
Will the VO and commentary from the $50 tier be available on the Blu-ray/DVD?
Yes! Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
Who will take part in the commentary and will it have English subtitles?
The creative staff will provide commentary, possibly the VO actors, and yes, there will be English subtitles. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
What is the content rating for UTD?
Mostly what you have to worry about here is the violence and some sexuality content. We have been tentatively rated by the AU Classification board as MA 15+. In the US I am sure we would be PG-13. Might be higher in DE, UK, and other EU countries since they tend to not care for violence. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
What is a Collapsible Container Box?
Similar to the NERV box but not exact: http://plamoya.com/bmz_cache/5/5eb61185905781f17fbb5b4c8cc090b1.image.500x500.jpg Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
December 5, 2015 seems a long time to develop one 24 minute episode…
Given the production quality, 1 episode could take about half of a year. We have pros working hard on this and they don’t like to produce less than their best. Plus, we are giving ourselves room to do 2 episodes along with any delays or obstacles that pop up along the way. If we meet the film stretch goal, expect that by the end of 2016. The cast seems overwhelmingly female… Are there any male characters?
There will be at least one male protagonist but Anthea takes center stage most of the time. Episode 1 will feature Hana primarily with Anthea as a strong support. Last updated: Sun, Aug 10 2014 2:56 am EDT
This Kickstarter is ending soon! Will I be able to pledge for rewards and add-ons after it ends?
We will have the PayPal option enabled on our site before too long and backers will be able to pledge, upgrade, or add-on there for the same rewards listed on the KS. www.under-the-dog.com Last updated: Fri, Sep 5 2014 3:36 pm EDT
Will you guys add some lower stretch goals? It doesn’t seem like we will meet the higher ones. =(
With the addition of PayPal on our website (www.under-the-dog.com) we will be allowing for pledges to come in for a while and the amounts from the KS and PayPal will pool together for the stretch goals. We will also be discussing ways to enable lower tier stretch goals so that we can see some immediate results! Stay tuned! Last updated: Fri, Sep 5 2014 5:14 pm EDT
What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
